Speed Challenge: Smelly Trees

TedTalk:
  1. I liked all the vibrant colors he used in his images
  2. I liked his use of the texture in nature
  3. I liked his use of focal points and the clarity of his images

  1. I like the color in my picture of the tree and sky
  2. I think my shot is good because of the vibrant sky and texture of the tree.
  3. I used a deep blue photo filter and two hue and saturation layers.
  4. This challenge was somewhat difficult because I feel like there are not that many visually attractive things around our campus, especially because we were looking for vibrant colors and everything is white. I relied on the blue sky for color.
  5. I used color and texture.

  1. The yellow flower is my favorite because it looks like an artistic design but its really just a picture.
  2. I think the fence shows the best elements of art.
  3. Balance, color, and emphasis are used in my favorite image.
  4. The flowers with the chrome filter is my favorite because it gives it a cool texture and looks very abstract.

Landscapes

  • I did use the rule of thirds. The grid lines are along the horizon of the sky and the end of road. I emphasized the road.
  • I used emphasis and movement to lead the viewers attention with the lines on the road. I also used balance to make it visually appealing with a balance of the sky, hills, and road.
  • This image was taken at 4:45 PM. I think it was a good time to shoot landscapes because the sun created nice shadows because of the angle of the sun.
  • I used the rule of thirds for the foreground background relationship.
Edge Burned
Channel Mixer
Lab Color
Gradient Map
Desaturation
  • I think the Channel Mixer Method had the best results for this image.
  • The Channel Mixer, Lab Color, and Gradient Map Methods produced a good range, but the Desaturation Method did not give a good range and made the image look too flat.

Macro Shots

  1. I have used a few different macro lenses before, so it was not a new thing for me.
  2. My favorite shot is the first one of the wood planks on the small bridge because I love the texture of the weathered wood.
  3. The first image shows the best rule of thirds because the focal point is on the bottom right grid point.
